Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan): The central government is expected to release the 11th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, or PM Kisan Scheme, in the coming weeks. Although there are no official words yet, the farmers benefiting from this scheme could receive their payout of Rs 2,000 which will be credited to their bank accounts according to reports. Under the PM Kisan scheme, eligible farming families receive 2,000 rupees every four months, or 6,000 rupees per year.
The PM Kisan scheme is one of several government-backed pension schemes launched by the Narendra Modi government. The program was announced in December 2018 to support farm families in need of financial support. PM Modi had dropped out of the scheme in February 2019. The Center has so far provided over Rs 1.57 crore to farmers registered under the PM Kisan scheme. The government has already released the 10th installment under the PM-KISAN program, which has benefited hundreds of thousands of farmers.
Farm families who benefit from the PM Kisan scheme should note that the list of beneficiaries would be exposed to the Panchayats for them to see. This is to ensure greater transparency of information. That aside, the states and union territories that are part of the program would be responsible for notifying the penalty to the benefit of farm families through an official SMS-generated system. Farmers, who are part of the PM Kisan scheme, can also check beneficiary status through the Farmers Corner of the government’s official PM Kisan portal.
