Ayushman Bharat Program: No Ayushman Bharat Program Beneficiaries Denied Treatment Due To Lack Of Funds: Government

No beneficiary of the Ayushman Bharat program has been denied treatment due to lack of funds, the government said on Tuesday while noting that the programme’s revised budget had been reduced due to lesser requirement or demand from states. Responding to a question from the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Bharti Pawar said the programme’s budget estimates for 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 were 6 Rs 400 crore per annum, against which the revised estimate was Rs 3,200 crore, Rs 3,100 crore and Rs 3,199 crore respectively.

Following the usual procedure, after examination, the budgetary allocation is revised according to the use of the funds. As a result, due to a lesser requirement or request from states, the revised estimate has been reduced, she said in a written response.

As of March 7, 2022, regarding transactions on the National Health Authority platform as well as information shared by states and union territories, approximately 8.74 lakh hospital admissions from worth Rs.30.60 crore has been authorized for COVID-19 treatment in the incorporated hospitals. under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

“No recipient of the program has been denied treatment due to lack of funds,” she added.
